The Driver Rehab Specialist/Certified Driver Rehab Specialist plans, develops, coordinates and implements driver rehabilitation services for individuals age 15 and older with disabilities. This employee is responsible for providing the clinical evaluation, behind-the-wheel assessment and providing appropriate driver's training. Clinical evaluation includes assessment of a person's visual, perceptual and cognitive abilities along with motor function and reaction time.

This position is responsible for OT services including, but not limited to evaluations, treatment, equipment recommendations, modality application under a physician's referral, driving related clinical direction to therapy staff and students plus documentation of services for the physical medicine rehab population from adolescent age and older.

The OTR understands and exhibits the principals of service excellence, exhibits a dedication to providing evidence-based care, leads by example, and mentors others in the performance of their assigned duties.

The position requires a Doctorate or Master of Science in Occupational Therapy from an accredited program. May be certified/registered by the National Board for Certification of OTs and must be licensed by the State of Indiana Health Professions Bureau. At least 2 years' experience as Occupational Therapist with additional 1 year experience in field of Driver Rehabilitation. Certification as CDRS by ADED is highly preferred. Must receive CPR training in accordance with American Heart Association Standards resulting in receipt of course completion card within 4 weeks of hire and maintain current thereafter. Therapists providing services to the Brain Injury Program/NBIC will complete CPI training at the first available opportunity.
